If your allergies haven’t clued you in yet, spring is here. Which is tremendous news for your seasonal affective disorder, sure, but bodes even better for the Nisolo huarache, our favorite version of our favorite woven leather sandal. Long before we went deep on the category last summer, Nisolo’s hero product had endeared itself to GQ staffers and the famous guys we keep tabs on in equal measure—we’re looking at you, Chris Pine—thanks to its easy-wearing nature and hard-to-bungle styling chops.
When we big-upped them a year ago, we waxed eloquent about their rich-guy-on-vacation vibe and high-quality craftsmanship. (A mere $150 for a pair of handmade sandals is about as good as it gets.) So if you weren’t convinced by our impassioned plug then, you might want to take a long, hard look at your blistered dogs and reconsider your stance: for a limited time, the reigning champ of gussied-up chanclas has blessed us all with a rare discount on its hero product.
What makes it such a hero? First, and most importantly: its incomparable well-heeled-retiree-on-vacation energy. Huaraches say another margarita, please; even if there’s no beach getaway on your calendar any time soon, they’ll make you look like you’re OOO. (Dress for the job you want, and all that jazz.)
But Nisolo’s huaraches are a tier above the competition. Their hand-woven leather uppers are handsome, but they’re also waterproof, ensuring your toes—bare or covered—stay nice and dry. Their grippy rubber soles are equipped to keep you from slipping and sliding during those dastardly, unexpected spring shows. They’re sandals that aren’t quite sandals, or not just sandals, at least.
Go full PTO mode and rock ‘em with pleated shorts and a camp shirt with at least three (3) buttons undone; add a little beachy flair to a tattered white tee and faded jeans; or take the galaxy-brain route and pair ’em with a rumpled linen suit at your next spring wedding. Is this just us daydreaming about our imminent warm-weather fits? A little bit. But now the Nisolo Huarache is on sale, your daydreams can become a reality with enough cash left over to re-up on Zyrtec. God bless you.
