From vapes to grinders to ash trays, the world of weed accessories is teeming with goodies. There’s no exception when it comes to the best rolling trays, an oft-overlooked category that’s increasingly part of a lost art. But it doesn’t have to be! Rolling a joint isn’t just a time-tested flex of weed skill, it’s a way to set the right mood. To slow down, enjoy the routine, appreciate the anticipation of that first puff. And if you’re already a joint-rolling goddess, then consider this a wake-up call to stop using your dinnerware (or your favorite magazine) and get a proper rolling tray. We recommend keeping a rolling tray in your cannabis kit because it keeps the entire experience —from busting flower to packing bowls or cones—clean and organized. A tray does more than catch loose ground; it’s a a home base for joint essentials like rolling papers, filters, grinders and lighters. Everything is in its place. And there’s no chance of accidentally rolling breadcrumbs from last night’s banh mi.

What kind of rolling tray you get comes down to a few factors. You can go small and light for rolling on the go (or saving space in a small place) or a big ol’ beauty to hold all your grinders, king-size cones, and half-dozen strains of green. We took into consideration materials—like metal, wood, and plastic, which vary in durability and aesthetics—and features like dedicated compartments and magnetic lids. And as we pulled together this list of the best rolling trays, we absolutely weighed whether they were as high-design as you’re about to be straight-up high.

Now that you know what you’re looking for in a rolling tray, here are the nine best ones we found.

The Best Rolling Tray, Overall: Raw Backflip Bamboo Magnet Rolling Tray

Raw

Backflip Bamboo Magnet Rolling Tray

Raw’s rolling tray is the easy step up from that plastic tray you got from the corner store. The Backflip contains multitudes…of compartments, making it a blessing for the type A roller who needs to make sure their grass stays separate from their cones, filters, and finished joints. We also really like that the two halves of the tray attach magnetically, turning into a handy storage box. If you’ve got a bamboo cutting board, you know that the material will last for the long haul, and looks handsome, too.

Just $14! That’s all I paid for this trippy two-in-one mini rolling tray that’s become my personal go-to rolling surface. The magnetic cover keeps things tidy and doubles as a second tray. If you end up with more ground flower than you thought you’d need, slide the lid over and it’ll be there for you the next time the clock strikes 4:20.

I’m into the simplicity of House of Puff’s ceramic joint rolling tray, with its little trough-style design for rolling joints that’s tiny enough to take on the road. The stoneware has been coated with a food-safe glaze and comes in different colors: black, white, blue, purple, and this very retro yellow. If you’re a master roller, you can dive right in, though in testing, I realized I needed a larger tray underneath the Nebula to catch the flower I spilled over the side.

The Best Customizable Weed Tray: Blazy Susan Spinning Rolling Tray

We respect a pun, but we love a thoughtful design like this Blazy Susan rolling tray even more. There’s a ton of useful storage—two rolling areas, a three-inch cutout for a grinder or jar, and spots for lighters, plus a slot to prop your phone up in case you need to watch a YouTube tutorial for rolling a joint. (No shame!) And then, of course, there’s the whole lazy susan aspect, which makes passing joint-rolling duty to your friend as easy as passing her a spliff. If you’re feeling creative, you can paint or get crazy dolling up the tray yourself, though the unfinished wood design certainly classes up the…room.

The Best Rolling Tray Storage Set: Cubbi Stash Box

Smell that? Nope, you don’t, because Cubbi’s smell-proof stash box keeps your good kush safe and dry, all without letting that dank aroma seep into your bougie rug. The top of the storage box functions as a rolling tray, while a second, smaller lid covers your weed for a double layer of smell protection. A plethora of interior storage makes it easy to keep everything you need to roll and smoke on hand without having to dig through Dune‘s box of pain.

The Best Portable Rolling Tray: Santa Cruz Shredder Small Hemp Tray Kit

Santa Cruz is known for its quality weed grinders, and this tray certainly fits the brand’s M.O. of cool stuff made well. It’s not sexy, but its definitely well-thought-out, acting as a durable, 7.75”-long travel-sized option for rolling enthusiasts on the go. I like that it’s compact and has a lid that you can flip down over the rolling surface. The raised edges to prevent spills aren’t novel, but the removable sifting screen and pour spout absolutely are.

The Best Double-Duty Rolling Tray: Pulsar Sifter Box & Rolling Tray

Pulsar

Crafted from natural pine, Pulsar’s wooden sifter boxes kinda look like humidors, but instead of moisture controls inside, they have an ultra fine 125-micron mesh screen to help separate pollen from flower (if that’s your jam). The three-piece design is held together by magnetic connectors, and the pollen storage section has a tempered glass bottom for easy kief collection. The lid itself has storage for rolling papers, and when you flip it over, you can quickly get to prepping a joint.

The Best Looking Weed Tray: Wolf & Badger Wobble Tray

While this hand-poured concrete tray from Wolf & Badger isn’t specifically marketed for weed, it’s pretty perfect for it: flat surface, raised edges, positive energy. The concrete has a hard-wearing sealer, protecting it from scratches (though don’t let oils or resin sit on it for too long, because it can still stain). Each tray, like each high, is slightly different—the result of being hand-poured in a way that changes how the colors mix and flow.

The Best Giftable Rolling Tray: Rogue Paq Joie De Weed Rolling Tray

Rogue Paq

Joie De Weed Rolling Tray

Rogue Paq is a new cannabis accessories brand that makes vibe-y weed gear like this stainless steel rolling tray. As if the gold tone wasn’t luxe-looking enough, the tray also comes with a refillable snakeskin butane lighter, trimming scissors shaped like the Eiffel Tower (sure, why not?), a couple packs of Rogue Paq’s SendNudes matches, and some hemp rolling papers. But wait, there’s more: the brand also throws in a stainless steel packing tool, joint clip, and a cotton bag to carry it all around in. It’s not cheap, but it is complete.
