It happens when it happens! Though it’s normal to wonder about the “right” time to start having sex, there isn’t a one-size-fits-all answer. For Rebel Wilson, the right age happened to be 35.
“Not everybody has to lose their virginity as a teenager,” the Pitch Perfect star told People ahead of her memoir’s release, which includes the admission that she was 35 when she “lost” hers (virginity is a construct).
“People can wait till they’re ready or wait till they’re a bit more mature,” she added. “And I think that could be a positive message. You obviously don’t have to wait until you’re in your 30s like me, but you shouldn’t feel pressure as a young person.”

Rebel Wilson explained that she wants to normalize becoming sexually active later in life so that others won’t feel “embarrassed” the way she did as a teen. “There was one vague time, I think I told my best friend, ‘Oh, yeah, I just did it to just get it over with when I was like 23…. Normally I would just leave the room when the conversation was happening,” she said. “And then the people that said, ‘Oh, at 24, it’s so late.’ And then I’m sitting here thinking, Oh my God, my number’s 35. What the hell? I’m going to look like the biggest loser.”
Wilson added that she might have “explored her sexuality more” if queerness had been as accepted in her adolescence as it is now. The actor has been hesitant to put a label on her orientation, explaining in a previous interview, “to me, it doesn’t matter about the gender, it just matters about the person.” She’s been engaged to designer Ramona Agruma since February 2023. They got engaged at Disneyland, proving you’re never too old to do literally anything.
