We made it, folks. It’s Oscars night, which means the interminable gauntlet of awards season—made even longer this year by the strike-delayed Emmys—is finally coming to a close. Overworked stylists all over Hollywood are about to get a much-deserved break…just as soon as they finish dressing their clients for the biggest night of their year (and, potentially, their lives).
And while the 96th Academy Awards ceremony should provide plenty of drama—especially in the razor-thin race for Best Actor, with heavyweights Cillian Murphy, Jeffrey Wright, Colman Domingo, Paul Giamatti, and Bradley Cooper duking it out—we’re especially curious to see what the mood will be on the red carpet. Are we in for more sober classicism, as we saw last year? Or will our prognostications prove correct with a parade of dandy embellishments and swoopy, ’70s-inflected suiting?
