One thing about John Cena, that man is always game. So, when someone said, “John Cena, would you be willing to present the 2024 Oscar for best costumes naked for a bit?” I can only assume he responded something along the lines of, “Heck yeah!” Because that is what he did.
The moment began with host Jimmy Kimmel reminding the audience of an important piece of Oscars history, when a real live streaker interrupted a presenter during the 1974 ceremony. According to the bit, Cena was then supposed to run on stage to recreate the moment. Instead, the camera panned to Cena peaking out from behind a piece of set decoration, telling Kimmel that he’d changed his mind about being naked on stage. Kimmel argued that Cena wrestles naked.

“I wrestle in jorts,” Cena corrected him. Kimmel responded, “That’s worse than naked.”
So, Cena then shuffled out on stage, wearing nothing but a pair of Birkenstocks, with the Oscars envelope covering his bits. “Costumes… they are so important,” Cena said drily. “Maybe the most important thing there is.” Because he couldn’t read the envelope without revealing himself, Kimmel did the honors and announced Poor Things as the winner.
The bit was a hit with audiences, some of whom declared Cena the, “world’s best comedic actor.” Another viewer on Twitter noted, “No matter what anyone says, John Cena COMMITS.” Another fan mused, “Naked John Cena bit might be the greatest Oscar bit of all time.”
