All gaming mice should have more than two buttons, ideally upwards of five, and an adjustable scroll wheel. Customizable innards are also nice to have. However, when comparing one gaming mouse to another here are some things to look for.
Compatible OS: Make sure the mouse you choose is compatible with the operating system you’re on, be it on a Mac or PC. All the mice we’ve selected work on both systems (most do these days), but it’s always worth checking.
Weight: Do you like a mouse to be lightweight? Do you prefer something heavier more satisfying? From super light to customizable weights, our selections run the gamut.
Wired or Wireless: Knowing whether you want a wired or wireless mouse is another key decision-making factor.
Sensor Resolution: This is a big number you’ll see when buying a gaming mouse. Sensor Resolution measures the level of detail or with which an optical sensor can measure, or more succinctly, its sensitivity. This is measured in CPI or DPI. On the low end of these options, the Logitech Lightsync maxes out at about 8,000 DPI. The DeathAdder can get as precise as 30K.
