Still, Mosaku recently made it clear that the recognition hasn’t been easy to celebrate. In a recent interview, Mosaku said, “I’ve not been able to celebrate because of what’s going on right now,” referencing ongoing political tensions and reported ICE-related incidents in the United States.
She described the emotional disconnect of receiving career-defining news during a heavy moment, adding that “one feels beautiful and one is so dark and heavy; truly dystopian.”

Just weeks before the Oscar nomination, Mosaku made headlines at the Golden Globes, where she revealed she’s expecting her second child. She arrived in a bright yellow custom gown that highlighted her baby bump, later explaining the look was inspired by the Yoruba phrase meaning “mother is golden.”
