Creative Verdy has a higher title in streetwear culture.

On Thursday (Aug. 29), the Japanese graphic artist formally announced that he’s been appointed creative partner at lifestyle brand Human Made. Verdy’s new position alongside Human Made founder NIGO comes years after the Osaka native put his signature animated touch on brands Girls Don’t Cry and Wasted Youth. He’s previously worked with NIGO in designing t-shirts for the Pharrell Williams co-produced I KNOW NIGO album, in addition to collaborations with Kenzo and JINS.

“I’ve admired Nigo since I was a kid, and he has inspired me countless times during our many projects together, Verdy said in a press statement. “Nigo’s commitment to the details of Human Made creations is astounding and a testament to his knowledge about other items—learned from looking at them, taking them in his hand and studying the smallest detail, such as the feel of the fabric and the stitch on the lining.”

He continued, “As a brand that brings new ideas to life by those who appreciate the true value of an item, I look forward to exploring the possibilities of Human Made and sharing them with the world. It is an honor to be Creative Partner of Human Made. I am excited to see what the future holds for us.”

Nigo supported Verdy’s statement, also acknowledging the artist’s strengths as part of the Tokyo streetwear scene.

“I’ve had the pleasure of spending a lot of time with Verdy In Tokyo,” he stated. He is now the face of Tokyo streetwear and the most influential Japanese artist in the world. He reminds me of myself when I was younger. I am very excited about how his talent can elevate Human Made Inc.”
