Founded in the 1960s, Diptyque initially started life as a bazaar in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés district of Paris (where the boutique still stands today). Then and now, it housed unique finds from travels around the world as well as the fabrics and wallpaper designed in-house. Ingeniously, this fragrance recreates and pays tribute to the flagship boutique’s olfactory soul, using headspace technology; a unique method of capturing the odor compounds of a place or an object.

I love this scent because it is so intriguing. A very complex fragrance compared with most of Diptyque’s “cleaner” creations, it opens with a fresh, spicy and energizing blend of cinnamon, clove, pink pepper, cassis, and citruses. Its floral heart explores a bouquet of violets, iris, rose, geranium, and tuberose; whilst sweet, resinous amber, velvety sandalwood, and creamy vanilla mingle in its base. A killer evening fragrance, it leaves a soft trail that gives the feels of the blonde wood counters in the shop, bathed in golden light.
