Sofía Vergara has found a new meaning for her Joe Mangienello tattoo.

In a hilarious new interview with The Talk, Vergara explained the meaning behind her two tiny tattoos after roasting her son Manolo’s own ink. Manolo Gonzalez Vergara is the Modern Family star’s only child, whom she shares with her first husband Joe Gonzalez.

During their joint appearance, Vergara jokingly threatened to leave the studio after her son revealed that he has 34 tattoos, telling the hosts, “I gave him this beautiful Latin dark skin and now you can’t see anything!” When Manolo pointed out that Vergara has a couple tattoos of her own, the 51-year-old actor immediately displayed two tiny initials on her wrists.

“Look how little,” Vergara defended herself, explaining that one of the tattoos honors her late brother, while the “J” initial was dedicated to her second ex-husband. Thankfully, she’s found a way to update its meaning.

“This was Joe Mangienello’s initial… But now he’s gone,” she said, appearing unbothered. “How lucky can I be that the guy I’m going out [with] has the same initial,” she continued, reminding the audience to “recycle.”

Vergara and Mangienello were married for seven years before announcing their split in July 2023. “We have made the difficult decision to divorce,” the exes said in a brief joint statement. “As two people that love and care for one another very much, we politely ask for respect of our privacy at this time as we navigate this new phase of our lives.”

Both actors have since moved on to new relationships. Mangienello was first linked to his current girlfriend, actor and model Caitlin O’Connor, three months before making their red carpet debut in December 2023. Meanwhile, Sofía Vergara’s own outings with renowned orthopedic surgeon Justin Saliman have been well documented since October. Clearly, she has a fondness for names that begin with “J.”
