Selena Gomez arrival on the 2024 Cannes Film Festival red carpet was not a surprise, considering the 31-year-old superstar was photographed in a very ladylike Oscar de la Renta dress upon her arrival on the French Riviera on May 17. However, Gomez raised the stakes for her red carpet moment by embodying the true spirit of old Hollywood.

Besides screening films to keep in mind for the rest of the year, the Cannes Film Festival is one big fashion show, making each premiere red carpet the perfect space for great moments of style, Haute Couture, and dazzling jewelry. All of these elements were very present during Gomez’s own arrival for the screening of her new movie, Emilia Perez.

On May 18, Gomez arrived at the event dressed in a black and white Saint Laurent gown with a Bardot neckline. The column silhouette was perfectly tailored to her figure, while the dress’ bare shoulders gave her that classic movie star touch. She accessorized with sky-high black platform Christian Louboutin sandals and Bulgari jewelry, topping off the look with a lavish choker necklace and equally dazzling earrings.

Gomez’s beauty look for this occasion also deserves a special mention. For this look, the actor opted for a long, wavy ponytail with a couple of face-framing pieces left free. Meanwhile, her makeup artist brightened up her face without detracting from the overall look by using a light lavender eyeshadow and nude lips.

What a way for Selena Gomez to make a triumphant return to the Cannes red carpet. The last time she attended the festival was in 2019 for the presentation of The Dead Don’t Die. At the time, she was just beginning to investigate a more mature facet of her style and her latest look is a great consolidation of this exploration.
