The artist formerly known as Kanye West, who turned 49 this week, celebrated his birthday by adding a rare Audemars Piguet watch worth nearly $2 million to his collection.
Ye, whose birthday on June 8 was also commemorated with the release of new track “GEMINI SEASON,” acquired an Audemars Piguet Royal Oak Double Balance Wheel Openworked in 18-carat white gold set with baguette-cut diamonds. Per reps, the timepiece, seen being worn by Ye in a photo shared to Instagram this week by Bianca Censori, was acquired for approximately $1.8 million.

Ye’s 49th birthday, preceded by a lengthy statement issued via Wall Street Journal in January in which the Bully artist spoke at length about his bipolar disorder struggles and affirmed that he is “not a Nazi or an antisemite,” saw him being thanked by frequent collaborator Aus Taylor for “giving a young Jedi a chance.” Per Taylor, Ye imbued him with “light and confidence” at a pivotal moment in his life.
Censori also marked her husband’s birthday, writing on Instagram, “I love you more than life.” The same day, she was revealed as the director of the dairy-focused video for the aforementioned “GEMINI SEASON.” Censori, whose ongoing performance art series is slated to continue later this year with CONFESSIONAL: THE WITNESS, has taken on this role in the past, having been behind the camera for the Travis Scott-featuring “Father” video back in March.
“The film presents a church not as a real place, but as a surreal dreamlike environment, where time feels slowed, spatial logic is distorted, and reality becomes fantasy,” she told Complex of the artistic intention behind Ye’s “Father” video shortly after its release.
