After a video of ASAP Rocky performing as part of his tour in support of Don’t Be Dumb went viral, the rapper’s creative agency and record label, AWGE, is capitalizing on the confusion.
Recently, a video showing Rocky performing during a show appeared to show him sporting a harness or a microphone pack that some people speculated was actually a thong or similar underwear. In response, AWGE shared a teaser image that showed that the brand will be launching its own line of thongs.
“Don’t be dumb you played yaself,” the brand posted alongside teaser images on X, formerly Twitter. “Mistook a mic pack. Your dumbness is opportunity.”
A series of videos and pictures from Rocky’s tour sparked speculation among fans and critics alike, with many suggesting that the fashionably adventurous rapper was wearing the traditionally feminine underwear. Of course, it’s not like Rocky has to prove anything regarding his sexuality or masculinity, considering he has three children with Rihanna, but it’s also not like his identity should even be in question if he did actually wear a thong.
Just recently, Rubi Rose launched a line of thongs with her apparel and intimate wear brand Lady Putain, which she stressed are gender-inclusive. The thong, which features the brand’s logo in a medallion style holding the straps together, was also shown off with a man modeling it.
“The icon thong is for boys, girls & the in betweens,” she wrote alongside pictures showing a male model wearing the thong.
