Witherspoon has always been happy to align herself with Woods, and for good reason. The actor is a smart, savvy, and dedicated producer and businesswoman. Much like Elle, some people may underestimate her because of her sunny persona and, yes, her blonde hair—but Witherspoon has had Hollywood’s number from the jump. During her 2015 Glamour Women of the Year speech, Witherspoon memorably said, “I dread reading scripts that have no women involved in their creation because inevitably I get to that part where the girl turns to the guy, and she says, ‘What do we do now?!’ Do you know any woman in any crisis situation who has absolutely no idea what to do? I mean, don’t they tell people in crisis, even children, “If you’re in trouble, talk to a woman?” It’s ridiculous that a woman wouldn’t know what to do.” She later added, “Like Elle Woods, I do not like to be underestimated.”
But though Witherspoon is and always will be Elle Woods (and is an executive producer on Amazon’s show), she’s also fully passing the baton—or in this case, maybe the orange iBook?—to series star Lexi Minetree. The clothes make that much clear. At the same June 21 event, Minetree wore archival Dolce & Gabbana and a Tiffany tag necklace. Yes, the same outfit worn by Woods herself in an early scene in the original movie.

During a visit to The Tonight Show on June 17, Minetree even wore Witherspoon’s actual dress, on loan from the actor. Witherspoon had worn the pink Marc Jacobs number to the first film’s premiere back in 2001.
