Vans is tapping one of the most prolific yet enigmatic names in the business for the next instalment of the Artist Collection series. Teaming up with Ed Davis, best known as co-founder of LA-based brand and creative collective, Brain Dead, Alpha–Omega: the choice is yours! is both a call for optimism and a reminder to choose calmness in a world of noise and chaos. More than familiar with the art of collaboration, this project marks a rare Davis solo credit with Vans.
Alpha–Omega: the choice is yours! sees Davis deliver a satirical reflection on the information overload and constant stimulation synonymous with contemporary life. You’ll find this communicated through the designer’s signature subversive visual language seen in motifs including spiders, a clown, warning signs, faux wellness logos and more.
The collection includes a full range of everyday essentials including a coach jacket with reflective prints, hoodie, tees, shorts and of course a Vans staple – the LX Authentic 44.
True to form, the project extends beyond the tangible and into a broader cultural moment that reflects Davis’ prowess for blurring the lines. To kick off the launch, you’re invited to celebrate the release in Davis’ hometown of Melbourne, with an immersive event at Abbotsford Convent. The day will see live performances from Wilson Tanner and Fia Fiell, with the first 50 guests in attendance set to receive incense from Agaric Fly, Davis’ own incense imprint.
