Another season of Virgin River is in the books, and this is your warning to stop reading now if you haven’t finished the new season. We good? Okay, then.

In the final episode of season 7 (don’t worry, season 8 begins filming this April), Marley and Eamon decide they want Jack and Mel to adopt their baby boy. However, because nothing comes easy for this couple, they learn the unborn baby has a rare genetic heart defect, so he’s going to need surgery. The foursome travel to Los Angeles so Marley can give birth at Cedars-Sinai before the baby is taken to Children’s Hospital L.A., where Mel’s old flame, Eli, will then perform surgery on the baby. (And as you’ll learn below, this won’t be the last time we see Eli.)

Meanwhile, now that Brady and Brie are officially giving things a go again, it seems nothing is smooth sailing for them either. As Brady fantasizes about getting Brie back on his bike, he gets distracted while riding his motorcycle and crashes while trying to avoid oncoming traffic. It seems survivable, but the internal injuries may be worse than the accident looks.

Across town, Preacher pauses before getting ready to sign the paperwork that might dissolve his partnership with Jack. Will he have a change of heart or go through with it? We’ll have to wait until next season to find out.

Then there’s Hope. And Vernon. And Roland. After spending the last two seasons hating her ex-husband, Hope closes out the season sharing an emotional embrace with Roland after she scatters her father’s ashes in a river bed. Meanwhile, she’s instructed her actual husband, Vernon, to sleep at the clinic because she’s angry at him for wanting to accept an offer to work in tandem with Grace Valley’s clinic after seeing just how much Virgin River needs more medical access.

So what’s next for the good-looking, but drama-filled folks of Virgin River? Showrunner and executive producer Patrick Sean Smith took a break from the writers’ room to give Glamour plenty of insight into the upcoming eighth season, while revealing who will and who won’t be returning when the show comes back.
