The first heatwave of the year hit New York City, and now you can’t get me back inside. I’m hiking in the park, pitching shade at the beach, and lighting up my Snow Peak fire pit in my Brooklyn backyard. I haven’t planned any camping trips upstate, because I don’t own a car. (Imagine what the insurance on a Rivian would look like in North Brooklyn.) I’ve been looking for a reason to plan something more serious and the REI summer sale is it. Turns out this sale is what’s going to get me in a rental car, on the road, and out in the woods.
Top brands like Arc’teryx, HOKA, and La Sportiva approach shoes are deeply discounted. There’s a sick front-country tent with a center vestibule from Big Agnes that’s 40 percent off. You can get a fixed-blade knife from Swedish heritage brand Morakniv for 30 percent off. There’s also some lesser deals on Nikon binoculars that I’m really into. (Catch me glassing for birds of prey in NYC parks.)
It’s one of the best summer sales we’ve seen. Even though it’s hot on the East Coast, better weather is around the corner, and I’d feel like a dickhead if I was trying to sell y’all TVs. Shop our favorite deals here, and then get the hell outside.
