Roman Reigns’ triumphant return to the WWE ring on Monday Night Raw on July 14 didn’t just make headlines for The Tribal Chief’s signature moves against Breakker and Bronson Reed.
Eagle-eyed sneakerheads couldn’t help but notice Reigns’ footwear fashion choices, remarking that the WWE superstar was wearing Deion Sanders’ iconic Nike Air Diamond Turf kicks.
Wrestling fans and footwear fans alike welcomed the choice. “Those are tuff not gone lie shout out to roman for that 😤🔥🔥,” wrote one fan, while another wrote, “He’s a 49ers fan of course he got the 1995 championship year deions.”
But not everyone was in line with the decision. “Not a fan of these kicks personally. But ok… I’ll get me a pair,” wrote one fan.
Roman Reigns’ sneaker choice, however, made its way to Sanders himself. The NFL legend took to his Instagram stories that same night to repost the ex-professional football players’ sartorial choice, with a one-word caption: “Nice.”
Earlier this year, The Tribal Chief made headlines, not for his sneaker choices, but for his political ones.
In an interview with Vanity Fair, the wrestler (real name: Joseph Anoa’i) revealed that he voted for Donald Trump in the 2024 election, despite not agreeing with the former reality TV host’s policies.
“One person was giving us information. One person was answering questions, so it wasn’t that hard,” he said at the time. “I support our president. Trump is one of those guys where he’s got a vast history and a huge background. He’s been in entertainment. He’s been in big business, politics. At this point, I’m supporting a bright future for our country. Positive and competent leadership. For us to be what we’re supposed to be—to be a world leader and carry that respect and do what a world power like us should be doing.”
