Fashion influencer and model Wisdom Kaye won’t be attending the Met Gala this year.

The popular 24-year-old fashion influencer warned fans last month that he won’t be at the Met Gala in 2025, and in a tweet shared on Sunday, May 4, he confirmed his absence once again. “I was not invited to the met, I know you guys wanna see me there so just letting y’all know,” he wrote. “Looking forward to seeing all the beautiful interpretations of black dandyism tmrw :).”

Kaye posted a TikTok video last month in which he said a lot of people are asking if he’s attending this year’s event, where the theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.”

“I don’t know if I’m going to the Met Gala,” he said. “I know I went last year, but guys you have understand, the only reason I went last year was because TikTok literally bought a table. I was sitting next to Jack Harlow and Shou Chew, the CEO of this app. That’s the only reason I went there, because they bought a table.” He argued that the Met Gala is an A-list event, so it shouldn’t be a surprise if he doesn’t turn up this year.

“If you guys wanna screenshot every tweet, package them up, and send them to Anna Wintour… be my guest!” he laughed. “I don’t think they really want to have social media people there this time around.”

Considering the theme and Kaye’s stature as one of the most prominent and beloved Black fashion content creators, the news will undoubtedly upset some of his fans. The 2025 Met Gala still promises to be a stacked event, with names including ASAP Rocky, LeBron James, Colman Domingo, Ayo Edebiri, Spike Lee, Angel Reese, Usher, and many more confirmed to be in attendance.
