Put down your Owalas and close your Stanley cups. In 2025 everyone’s thirsting for Saratoga Spring Water.

Unlike the sustainably chic reusable bottles that have become a status symbol in recent years, this hot new bombshell is taking us back to basics. I’m talking single-use, baby, though the brand does boast a glass, BPA-free bottle rather than plastic.

The popularity of Saratoga Spring Water, founded in the Adirondacks in 1872, has exploded rapidly. All of the sudden it’s being touted online as “fancy” water and healthier for its glass bottle free of microplastics. This isn’t just an online trend; I’ve observed several girlies in the offices of Condé Nast (that’s the parent company of Glamour) sipping from the now iconic dark blue long-neck bottle. They even sell them in our cafeteria. Given the fact that this time last year, every girl I saw had an Owala, this seems like an important shift.

Although sometimes virality is a mystery, in this instance it’s pretty clear how Saratoga water burst into the mainstream. In February a fitness influencer named Ashton Hall went mega-viral for a video in which he shared his rather intense and somewhat bizarre “morning routine”—of which Saratoga water specifically is the star. Hall not only poured himself a glass of the water and drank it immediately upon brushing his teeth, but later dunked his face in a bowl of the spring water mixed with ice (he also rubs a banana peel on his face, but that’s less relevant to our discussion).

The video, which Hall originally posted on his Instagram account, blew up last month when it got reposted to Twitter. But amid all the head scratching and inquiries about his morning routine, a lot of people fixated on Hall’s love of Saratoga water specifically. After all, it’s kind of his sidekick in this and all other videos, where he is rarely seen without his trusty blue bottle (and no, before you ask, this wasn’t sneaky sponcon, the brand told Business Insider).

Soon many water connoisseurs grew curious enough about Hall’s love for the taste of Saratoga spring water that many decided to test it out for themselves. Tayia, a science teacher and TikTok creator, tells me she liked Hall’s video cinematography and loves a “luxury moment.” Also, she loves water.

“I’ve been wanting to get into luxury lifestyle content, and his content was really influential,” she says. “So once I saw everyone hyping the water he was using to wash his face, I was sold. Also it’s in a glass bottle so no BPAs.”

She made a video reviewing the water—and immediately gave it high marks.

“I honestly thought the taste was extremely fresh. I think because of the glass bottle, it really didn’t have the plastic-esque taste other water brands have,” she says. “It really didn’t taste like anything, and it was so crisp and refreshing. I also feel like the glass bottle allowed for it to be even colder than others.”
