Swift went on to release four more fragrances: Enchanted Wonderstruck (passionfruit); Taylor by Taylor Swift (magnolia and tangerine); Taylor by Taylor Swift: Made of Starlight (apricot); and Incredible Things (Grapefruit).
These scents took Swift from roughly the Speak Now era through the Red era and into the 1989 era and were mainly aimed at the youngish demographic that was growing up alongside her. Wonderstruck even came with a charm bracelet! All of this to say, while the sophisticated/feminine ethos is probably still reflective of Swift’s taste, I would find it hard to believe that she’s, like, wearing a dupe of Wonderstruck these days. Put another way, her perfume past does not necessarily describe her perfume present.
What do other people say Taylor Swift smells like?
In 2010, a year before her first perfume came out, Swift went on Letterman and Dave said she smelled like “expensive wood.”
Glamour editor Stephanie McNeal once briefly met Swift and reports that she doesn’t remember a discernible scent, suggesting that Swift is judicious in her perfume application.
Sarah Chapelle, author of Taylor Swift Style and an authority on all things Swift, notes that Swift has never officially revealed this information.
That said…
What scents have been linked to Taylor?
Swift has not confirmed anything. It’s all hearsay. According to this Redditor, who claims to have gone through all of the singer’s interviews and spoken to Secret Session attendees, there is a very, very long list of scents she’s reportedly claimed to use over the years. (I’ve taken Swift’s own perfumes out of the list.)
They are: Flowerbomb, Viktor&Rolf; Santal Blush, Tom Ford; Tobacco Vanille, Tom Ford; Moon Sparkle, Escada; Hot Couture, Givenchy; Michael, Michael Kors; Bronze Goddess, Estee Lauder; Viva La Juicy, Juicy Couture; Midnight Rain, La Prairie; 8 for Women, Abercrombie & Fitch; Fantasy, Britney Spears.
Okay, a few things here. Most of these, I can totally see Swift getting sent as a gift and they just so happened to be at her house while Secret Sessioners were there; she may have even tried them once or twice. That doesn’t mean they are her signature scent, though. And if she was a mall girl growing up—which I believe she likely was—it stands to reason that she would’ve spritzed herself with an Abercrombie scent before a date in high school.
The most questionable entries on this list, to me, are Viva La Juicy and Fantasy. Viva La Juicy, because Juicy was a trend Swift seems to have skipped altogether (and the only source I could find for that claim was this random website). Fantasy, because even though we know Swift grew up a Britney fan, did she wear it the way a perfume-wearing adult woman wears perfume? Doubtful. (If you’re bored, this review of the many Britney perfumes is a fun read.)
