Less than a month after Sydney Sweeney reportedly called off her wedding to Jonathan Davino, the actor got to see herself as a bride. Well…not herself, exactly. Warning: possible Euphoria spoiler ahead.
Recently, the 27-year-old actor was seen filming a wedding scene for season three of the hit HBO series, which will feature a time-jump to remove its characters from the trappings of high school drama. In footage posted to X (formerly Twitter) on April 15, Sweeney could be seen walking down an aisle in a dramatic white wedding gown featuring a strapless corset bodice and billowing princess skirt.
The lengthy train of the gown—which is definitely more Cassie’s style than Sydney’s—was carried by at least two women in casual clothes, signaling the group was likely rehearsing the scene rather than filming the final cut.
Fans were quick to notice the large “C&N” displayed at the end of the aisle, leading many to believe Cassie will be marrying her high school bestie’s volatile boyfriend Nate Jacobs (Jacob Elordi), whom she began seeing behind Maddy’s back (actor Alexa Demie plays Maddy) in season two. Of course, it’s possible the scene is all in Cassie’s head—or a complete HBO-approved fake-out to confuse fans.
“It’s got to be a scene where she’s dreaming because no fucking way,” one fan responded to the clips. Another wrote, “I want Maddy to whoop [Cassie’s] ass at her wedding just like she did at Lexi’s play last season.”
Back in October, Euphoria star and executive producer Zendaya explained the time-jump as a means to remove “high school drama” from the equation. “It’s important because there’s only so much high school drama you can deal with,” Zendaya said during an appearance on Entertainment Weekly podcast The Awards, joking, “And then she cheats on her boyfriend again!”
Alas, Sydney Sweeney has recently found herself at the center of a similar kind of rumor mill, though the subjects are a bit more A-list than a particularly violent high school quarterback and the hot girl auditioning for Oklahoma.
It didn’t take long for those Glen Powell cheating rumors to resurface after Sweeney allegedly called things off with Davino in March. Just days after reports of the split went public, Sweeney was spotted with her Anyone but You costar at Powell’s sister’s wedding. However, Powell’s own mother was quick to dispel the relationship rumors, telling the Daily Mail that Sweeney and Powell are “definitely not together.”
Clearly, weddings are just as rife with drama as a high school cafeteria.… Especially fictional ones.
