Virgin River is getting a season eight! The hit show, often described as the ultimate escapist comfort watch, has just broken a serious record after being renewed for yet another season. The news makes the series—based on Robyn Carr’s book series of the same name—Netflix’s longest-running live action scripted series, surpassing Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin’s Grace and Frankie and Orange Is the New Black, which each ran for seven seasons on the streamer.

“On behalf of myself and the whole Virgin River family, we’re eternally grateful to Netflix and to the fans for allowing us to continue on this journey with these beloved characters,” showrunner Patrick Sean Smith told Netflix’s Tudum of the renewal.

Earlier this year, the official Virgin River Instagram revealed that season seven of the show is officially in production, so there’s still plenty of time before season eight lands on our screens.

But what can we expect from Virgin River season seven? “Season seven will find Mel and Jack taking their first steps into marriage as they start to plan for and build a life and family together. Meanwhile, Doc and Hope will work together to protect the clinic and the integrity of the town from outsiders,” Smith said.

We will see Mel and Jack’s “honeymoon phase” bring new challenges, and the show will also continue to focus on other family and community dynamics in the small town of Virgin River. The Vampire Diaries star Sara Canning will join for season seven as Victoria, a former police officer who is now working as a medical board investigator. She arrives in town to review Doc’s clinic but finds herself reconnecting with someone from her own past.

Riverdale’s Cody Kearsley will also join the cast as Clay, a newcomer with experience in rodeo. He’s searching for his sister, who he became separated from in foster care.

On February 9, Netflix released the official Virgin River trailer, and while it reveals a lot (a potential baby for Mel and Jack, Lizzie giving birth, Kaia questionning her future), there’s still a big question mark about someone else. But first, take a look:
