Usher brought his signature cherries to the Met Gala.
A photo from the star-studded event shows Usher feeding one to Sabrina Carpenter. The suggestive move has become something of a trademark for him during his Past Present Future Tour while performing his song, “There Goes My Baby.”
Usher was outfitted in a white tuxedo when feeding a cherry to Carpenter, and a clip captured by the Metropolitan Museum of Art shows him wearing the same suit while performing his hit song, “OMG.”
At one point, though, he slipped into a red number, which appeared to be a zoot suit with sequined lapels.
While women audience members have been fans of Usher’s erotic moments during his shows, not everyone loves them. Footage from a recent concert shows his bodyguard looking disgusted while the singer sensually danced with a fan, who seemed to be having the time of her life.
In a recent conversation with Jennifer Hudson, Usher revealed that the fruit segment began “with strawberries in Vegas.” He added, joking, “I just figured we just try all the fruits until we figure out which one works the best. But cherries were something that I felt was fun and just kind of active.”
Carpenter joins the list of famous women who’ve partaken in the steamy segment, alongside Keke Palmer, Tiny, Halle Bailey and Rubi Rose.
