It’s been a big year for Timothée Chalamet, between Dune: Part Two and A Complete Unknown. Naturally, the best way to top it all off for the 82nd Annual Golden Globe Awards tonight—where both movies are nominated, as is Chalamet—is with a baby blue, polka-dotted silk scarf.
Chalamet pulled up in a well-tailored, sparkly black suit by Haider Ackermann for Tom Ford, with a white button-down, and the cherry on top: a little blue scarf. It’s unexpected, yet elegant. It’s a little bit Bob Dylan, and, according to Esquire Style Director Jonathan Evans, a little bit Flying Ace Snoopy, too. The perfect accessory is versatile like that.
Is Chalamet strategically evoking Mr. Tumnus, making a subtle bid for Greta Gerwig’s forthcoming Narnia film? Is it just chilly out there, on the palm tree-lined streets of Beverly Hills? It is, most likely, a reference to the scarf-wearing Bob Dylan on the cover of his Blonde on Blonde album, but still—whatever the reason, I’m here for it.
It’s 2025, and it’s time to take a page out of Chalamet’s book and start throwing on a fun little accessory with your fit, just for the hell of it (he pulled out a $5 Old Navy beanie recently, too). It’s the year of accessorizing, and Chalamet has set the tone.
It doesn’t have to be functional; it just has to be fashionable. Throw on a silk scarf. Or any scarf, for that matter; just put some flair on your fit. Tie it in a weird, loose knot à la Timmy, if that’s your vibe. Just get your head in the accessories game.
