New York City winters are tough. Like, famously tough. But if you’re Timothée Chalamet braving the freeze ahead of your Saturday Night Live appearance, they’re also a great excuse to cozy up properly in an internet-favorite beanie.

For his hometown stop on the A Complete Unknown press tour, Chalamet dusted off one of Arc’teryx’s perennially-popular Bird Head toques, an eye-grabbing, dome-swaddling beanie beloved by mountain daddies, dog walkers, and urban gorp nerds in equal measure. On a practical level, it’s the kind of beanie every guy should own. It sits close to the head—which means it’ll actually fulfill its most elementary function, i.e. keeping your noggin warm—and is made from natural fibers for maximum comfort and breathability, all qualities you want in a skully.

Arc’teryx

Bird Word Toque

Before around 2019, when a Paris Fashion Week flick of Frank Ocean wearing a Mammut jacket and Arc’teryx beanie went viral, the brand was largely the domain of true-blue outdoorsmen and gung-ho rock-climbing buffs. But during the height of the gorpcore craze, Arc’teryx became something of a status symbol among menswear nerds, too. So just when you thought it might be getting a little too popular, Timothée Chalamet arrives to prove that it still looks good—great, even, when worn with the requisite cold-weather accoutrement.

Besides, Chalamet in all his post-swag glory has never been one to adhere to the fickle whims of our expectations. This is the same guy that pulled up to a premiere on a Lime bike, cosplayed as Bob Dylan at the premiere of the Bob Dylan biopic he stars in, and generally zigs when the vox populi zags. If this is the excuse you were looking for to resurface a gorp grail of your own, well, play on, player.
