Everybody say “cheese!” And then get me a frame for this adorable Obama family photo that Barack and Michelle Obama both just posted to Instagram. What? The Obamas are America’s family too, after all. They’re not just anybody.
President Obama doesn’t share personal family photos all that often, but on June 10, he posted a sweet snap of himself, Michelle, and their two daughters, Malia and Sasha, in honor of Sasha’s 24th birthday. Side note: Time sure does fly, doesn’t it?
“Happy birthday, Sasha,” the former president captioned the photo, which shows all four Obamas standing together outside amongst the trees. The caption continued, “Watching you grow into the incredible woman you are has been a true gift. I’ll always be proud of you and will always be here for you.”

Michelle posted the same Obama family photo to her own Instagram page, adding a similar message of love and support for her youngest daughter. “Happy birthday to my sweet girl, Sasha! Can’t believe how quickly time has flown,” she wrote. “I’m so proud of the woman you’ve become. Love you always!”
It is wild to reflect on how much both Obama daughters have grown up since the family left the White House, something Michelle Obama touched on in a June 4 interview on Kate Hudson’s Sibling Rivalry podcast. “It is very important for my kids to feel like they’ve earned what they are getting in the world, and they don’t want people to assume that they don’t work hard, that they’re just naturally just handed things,” Michelle said, which is why Malia dropped her last name for her first film project. “She took off her last name, and we were like, ‘They’re still going to know it’s you, Malia.’ But we respected the fact that she’s trying to make her way.”
