Do I need an outdoor TV?
Probably not. The list of people who really need an outdoor-rated TV is quite small. If you want to have a TV next to your pool or grill, spend $10,000 on an outdoor TV. If you want to put a TV on your patio and never cover it, spend $10,000 on an outdoor TV. If you own an outdoor bar that gets sunshine, maybe spend $10,000 on an outdoor TV.
Anyone else—that is, people with outdoor spaces protected from the elements and the foresight to cover or enclose your TV—can probably skip the dedicated outdoor TV.

Some outdoor TVs (like the five we recommend) are more water-resistant than the standard TV. They’re water-resistant to the point that you could give them a light hosing down, but that doesn’t mean they’re waterproof.
What accessory do I most need for my outdoor TV?
The smart thing to do is get a TV cover. A TV cover will keep your TV safe on those nasty rainy or snowy days when you’re not going to use it anyway. Then, so long as the TV is not in 100-plus-degree weather or direct sunlight for over an hour, you’ll be fine.
