What do the GOATs of world gymnastics call themselves? So glad you asked. Because the gold medal–winning women’s gymnastics team name is not messing around. Literally.
At a press conference at the 2024 Paris Olympics, Aly Raisman (former Olympic gymnast and team captain), asked this year’s competitors what their team name is. Simone Biles chuckled slightly before giving an abbreviated response. She began, “F-A…” After some whispered conversation among the teammates, Suni Lee said, “F* Around And Find Out.”

And find out the world did. On July 30, the US women’s gymnastics team took home the gold medal, led by Biles and Lee. This, by the way, made Biles the most decorated Olympic gymnast in the sport’s history, with eight medals to her name. It’s a seriously impressive comeback for the gymnast.
During the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Biles suffered a bout of the “twisties,” which is when an athlete loses their sense of equilibrium while in the air, which can lead to devastating injuries. After the scare, Biles took a hiatus from the sport, saying in a 2021 interview that she was still scared to do gymnastics again. “To do something that I’ve done forever and just not be able to do it because of everything I’ve gone through is really crazy because I love this sport so much. But it’s hard. I’m sorry. And I don’t think people understand the magnitude of what I go through,” Biles said on Today.
