Oh, this one’s gonna be good. Netflix just announced that The God of the Woods—the best-selling novel by Liz Moore—is being adapted into a television series. Obviously, we are all very much sat.
Moore herself will be show-running, writing, and executive producing the series, alongside collaborator Liz Hannah. “We love making TV and can’t wait to bring The God of the Woods to life with our partners at Sony and Netflix,” the duo said in a statement. “We hope everyone falls in love (and hate) with these characters as much as we have.”
You’re going to need more information, right? Well, here is everything we know about The God of the Woods series (so far).
Where have you heard this title before?
With over a million copies sold, there’s a decent chance you’ve read the book yourself. But if you haven’t, perhaps you recognize the title from Taylor Swift. In her End of an Era documentary, Swift is listening to the audiobook of The God of the Woods.
What is The God of the Woods about?
The book is set in the Adirondacks in the summer of 1975, when Barbara Van Laar, the 13-year-old daughter of the wealthy and powerful Van Laar family, mysteriously disappears from summer camp. Even eerier, Barbara’s older brother disappeared in just the same way 14 years earlier. “As the past and present collide, the Van Laars’s wealth and influence unravel, revealing the damaging consequences of privilege and the abuse of power,” reads Netflix’s synopsis.
We get the feeling that if you liked We Were Liars, there’s a good chance you’re going to like this one too.
