After months of bundling up, nothing feels better than a proper spring refresh—which includes spring nail art to welcome the season. It’s time to ditch those moody shades and frosty finishes for a mani that blooms. (And no, that doesn’t limit you to pastels and pale pinks.)
While we still love our soap and lilac milk nails for spring and summer, experts have predicted that manicure trends will be a bit more adventurous in 2026. Juli Russell, nail expert and Sally Beauty brand ambassador, expects to see lots of pattern play, mixed-and-matched sets, and even 3D embellishments. But don’t worry, there are plenty of ways to wear maximalist nails that still feel tidy enough for spring cleaning: “The goal is intentional excess: Nails that feel curated, not cluttered,” Russell says.
More of a minimalist? Not to worry—we’ve got ideas for you too. The French manicure isn’t going anywhere, and if you’d rather paint your nails at home? And for a softer look that still feels special, the cat-eye nail craze shows no sign of slowing down: “The shimmer is subtle, the movement is intentional, and the overall effect is understated luxury,” Russell says. “It’s the kind of manicure that catches the light, and compliments without trying too hard.”
Still undecided? Take it from a pro. According to Jan Arnold, co-founder of CND, incorporating richer colors into nail designs for spring is an unexpected and cool option. “Add aqua blue shimmer or soft fuchsia shimmer for the awakening the season invites,” she says. “CND’s Shellac and Vinylux shade Sleeping Mask is the perfect blue shimmer for this look. Apply a couple of layers of the base color and then embellish with a rich metallic pearl or gold wave to transition the seasons together in a fresh and unexpected way.”
As for the spring nail colors Arnold is loving right now? “Sheer nude pink, beige taupe, soft fuchsia, gold, or white pearl,” she says. “Try a rich aqua blue if you prefer something that’s more bold.”
