Departamento has found a new home.
The contemporary menswear mecca has officially opened the doors to its new flagship in Signal, the upscale retail enclave in Los Angeles’ Arts District. The store, which was previously located in the city’s Arts District, was designed by LA-based architecture studio 22RE.
Customers enter Departamento through a concealed doorway inside the Concierge Coffee cafe. They then make their way through “a portal clad in mirrored walls that playfully transport shoppers into the store.” According to 22RE, the interior features a grid floor plan divided into “distinct zones,” including dressing rooms and sleek collection displays that feature a mix of wood and metallic material.
The design studio also teamed up with clothing brand Taiga Takahashi on an exclusive in-shop experience. The space, which is accessed through sliding doors, embraces traditional and futuristic elements, including 300-year-old repurposed wood from Japanese ryokans and pebble stone-inspired flooring.
