The American Red Cross continues to link with streetwear brands for individuals in need of life-saving treatment.

On October 19, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. local time, the nonprofit humanitarian organization will host a sickle cell awareness event in Los Angeles, where exclusive Supervsn merch will be given to blood donors. With the event being hosted by Watts Stix at Hubble Studio, American Red Cross will also partner with production agency Creative Noize and media organization Family Style.

While raising awareness about sickle cell disease, American Red Cross also looks to address its impact in African American and multicultural communities.

The occasion will come one month after ARC’s recent “Drop for Drop” installment in Nashville, where Siegelman Stable hats were gifted to attendees of the immersive fashion experience and blood drive. The program was also in support of an absent generation of blood donors, meaning young people who were unable to participate during the pandemic due to in-person classes and events being paused.

“Building a sustainable blood supply is critical to meeting the needs of patients today, tomorrow and beyond,” stated Darren Irby, executive director of brand and partnerships for the American Red Cross. “One in seven people walking into the hospital will need a blood transfusion and it’s the blood on the shelf that saves lives. The blood is only there because someone took to the time to roll up a sleeve and give. While fashion and blood donation make not seem to connect, the RedCross is committed to reaching and motivating new audiences who have maybe never considered blood donation before.”
