She’s a Supergirl, and she’s here to save the world—the question is, when?

Dedicated DC Universe fans are likely already aware, but a Supergirl solo film starring Milly Alcock is in the works as a follow up to James Gunn’s 2025 Superman. Fans got a taste of the forthcoming film with a surprise cameo from Supergirl herself at the end of Superman.

Gunn’s latest, starring David Corenswet as the Man of Steel alongside co-stars Nicholas Hoult as Lex Luthor and Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane, has received rave reviews from fans and critics alike. So, naturally, the question on everyone’s mind is, “when is Supergirl coming out?”

Here’s everything we know about the superhero film, including when the hotly anticipated film hits theaters.

When does Supergirl come out?

First things first—the release date! As of publishing, the film is set to be released on June 26, 2026. The palindromic release date (6/26/26!) was first announced back in March 2024.

Gunn revealed in May that the film had wrapped—well over a year before its release—and is now in post-production. There are no guarantees, but it seems like everything is on schedule.

Who’s in the Supergirl cast?

As we mentioned, Alcock will star as Supergirl, a.k.a. Kara Zor-El, a.k.a. Kara Danvers. If the Australian actor looks familiar, that might be because she recently starred as Simone Dewitt in Sirens. The 25-year-old also appeared in the first season of HBO’s House of the Dragon as the young Rhaenyra Targaryen.

Jason Momoa will cameo as bounty hunter Lobo, while David Krumholtz and Emily Beecham will play Supergirls parents, The Hollywood Reporter reports. Eve Ridley will play the young alien girl Ruthye, while Matthias Schoenaerts will play Krem.
