Sophie Turner’s summer haircut just boosted my confidence by at least 20%.
Most women will know what I mean when I say my hair is currently in its awkward stage. Nearly two years ago, I gave into the wolf cut bob propaganda, excitedly opting for a layered chop just above my shoulders to combat excessive shedding and damage from past keratin treatments. I have no regrets about the cut literally saved my hair (and looked good doing it) but it’s been 22 long months and my hair still stubbornly falls about two inches under my collarbone—not quite long enough to style without losing precious length, but too long to be considered a lob. There’s nothing wrong with it, per say, it just feels kind of blah and unintentional. (You can see for yourself here, I guess.)
So, imagine my pleasant surprise when I saw Sophie Turner’s new haircut at the the Louis Vuitton Cruise 2026 show in Avignon, France. On May 22, the Game of Thrones star debuted a mid-length chop of her own, which sit’s just below her shoulders in soft waves with a few face-framing layers. Suddenly, I’m dreaming of extensions less and less, which is great because I can’t afford them.
Not since the Rachel—which features far more layers than the Sophie—has there been a mid-length cut this primed for a takeover. Just like my wolf cut of yesteryear, Turner’s new chop grants her a bit more volume than her chest-length tresses, while surely taking less time to style. Furthermore, Sophie Turner won’t have to deal with a post-bob hairdentity crisis as her hair grows back out.
Sometimes, you don’t know how good you have it until you see someone else rocking the hell out of your haircut. But now we face a new question: Should I go blonde?
