If you’re into sneakers, you probably already know Sean Wotherspoon. If not, he’s one of the most influential figures in sneaker and streetwear culture, known for blending vintage style, storytelling and community into everything he does. Now, he’s teaming up with KLEKT.

Wotherspoon has joined the platform as both an investor and its new Chief Community Curator, arriving just as KLEKT launches a public crowdfunding campaign on Republic (April 8). The move gives its global community the opportunity to invest in the platform’s future.

It marks a significant moment for the Germany-based marketplace—now part of fashion tech company Responsible—as it looks to expand beyond sneakers into streetwear, collectibles and the broader circular economy. The timing is no coincidence: resale is booming, driven by a new generation that values sustainability as much as exclusivity.

KLEKT has built its reputation as one of Europe’s most trusted sneaker platforms. Now, it’s focused on extending that credibility while staying true to its core pillars of authenticity and community, and that’s where Wotherspoon comes in. His emphasis on storytelling and culture aligns with KLEKT’s next phase, where community will play a more active role in shaping the platform.

“KLEKT has always felt very rooted in the real sneaker community, and that’s what drew me in,” says Wotherspoon. “It’s all about storytelling, and the people and culture behind those stories. I’m excited to support the team as Chief Community Curator and help build the next chapter of KLEKT.”

Mark Dowds, CEO of Responsible, adds: “KLEKT has always been about more than just transactions and numbers. It’s about the culture and the community around sneakers. With Sean joining, and the community playing an even bigger role in the platform’s future, we’re excited to take KLEKT into its next chapter—across new categories and new geographies.”
