The sun’s coming out, which means your shades are, too. Spring is here, summer is around the corner, and you are not going to be that guy squinting into the sunlight because he doesn’t have a stylish pair of sunglasses to sport. I’m just not letting that happen to you.
Sunglasses are a practical accessory, so it’s time to invest in a pair that A) gets the job done in terms of comfort and protection, and B) looks like you know what style in 2025 is. You don’t want to look like you’ve been harboring the same convenience store pair since you decided to throw ’em into your purchase at the last minute in 2009.
This year, there are four major sunglasses trends for men to look for: aviators, micro sunnies, sporty sunglasses, and Wayfarers. Channel your inner Bob Dylan or your inner Bad Bunny; they’re both serving some serious shades inspo for ’25.
All About Aviators
The all-time classic is sticking around for a little bit longer. Aviators are an iconic glasses shape, with a main character-esque style. When done properly, they have a cool, ’70s aura that pairs effortlessly with even the most modern of fits. This is a sunglasses style that you never have to swap or change, so get a pair you love now and wear ’em forever. Bonus points if they have tinted lenses for some extra flair.
Throwback Micro Shades
This shouldn’t be the first time you’re hearing about the slim sunnies trend, and it certainly won’t be the last. With the revival of the ’90s in the past few years, sunglasses have been getting smaller and smaller to match the vibe. For 2025, we’re still seeing these everywhere, from celebrity style to fashion week runways. Go for a rounded shape or a rectangular one; just make sure they’re slim enough to peak over, if you so wanted to.
Sporty and Sleek
From Canada Goose’s new sunglasses drop to the return of tech-y wraparounds, sporty shades are going to be everywhere this summer. The sunglasses don’t have to be designed for sports, mind you, but feel free to bust out the Oakleys. Something like A$AP Rocky’s pair above, with a silhouette that hints at curving around his head (presumably to offer more protection), is all it takes. It’s in the details, and it’s in the vibes. If your sunglasses don’t look out of place with your workout clothes, you’re doing it right.
The Classic Wayfarers
Maybe it’s the lasting presence of A Complete Unknown and Bob Dylan-mania on pop culture, or maybe it’s just that the most iconic sunglasses style ever is having a little resurgence. (That is, they’re slightly more popular now than they are normally, which is still very popular.) Either way, Wayfarers are a staple that you absolutely can’t go wrong with. They’re somehow universally flattering, and always look good. If you have a go-to pair of these in your arsenal, you might never need to buy new shades again.
