“There are too many fucking frontmen out there and not enough singers,” declared Oasis’s Liam Gallagher to MTV during an interview tied to the European leg of the band’s 1997 Be Here Now Tour. “So, I don’t want to be a frontman—I just want to be the best singer.”
Which is ironic, given that Liam set the standard for frontman style in the 1990s. In the sit-down interview, which took place before a gig in Oslo, Norway, he’s every inch the Britpop icon in red tinted sunglasses, a messy mod mop, and a red-and-blue Berghaus Meru Jacket fastened to the top. He wore the very same ensemble on stage (accessorizing it with a trademark tambourine).
If you, too, would like to get your money’s worth out of a Berghaus Meru, you’re in luck: The British outdoors label has just re-released the 1994-born mountain layer, “revived” with modern GORE-TEX. The re-issue comes as part of a new genderless “Concert” collection that has all the essentials for 2025’s big music summer.
For Kendrick and SZA’s Grand National show, for Beyoncé’s Cowboy Carter spectacular, for The 1975/Neil Young/Olivia Rodrigo-year Glasto and, of course, the Oasis reunion.
Alongside the Meru—which also comes in brown and gray, purple and gray, and green and black for the season—Berghaus debuts a fleece inspired by highlights of the brand’s ’90s archive, and also shows some love to another Liam Gallagher favourite: the Trango jacket.
It’s real frontman clobber.
The Berghaus Concert collection is now available on the brand’s webstore.
