LeBron James is celebrating the legacy of the civil rights activist Martin Luther King, Jr. with the upcoming “Honor the King” LeBron 23, shown here.
James debuted this teal-colored LeBron 23 to kick off the new year when the Los Angeles Lakers faced off against the Memphis Grizzlies on Jan. 2. It makes sense that James laced up this pair while taking on the Grizz, as this colorway is also inspired by his 51 points scored against the same team in 2008 on MLK Day. The color scheme itself is also a nod to the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, which was where King, Jr. was assassinated and now houses the National Civil Rights Museum.
At the time of writing, release details for this “Honor the King” LeBron 23 have yet to be announced by the Swoosh. Check back soon for official updates.
