Fans of Nike’s performance running line may remember the fiery Vaporfly 3 and Zoom Fly 6 surfacing in September. As it turns out, those pairs are part of a larger collection inspired by Japan.
The latest Nike “Ekiden” collection shown here not only includes the aforementioned Vaporfly 3 and Zoom Fly 6 but also features the Alphafly 3 and Rival Fly 4. The range pays homage to Hakone Ekiden, a week-long relay race in Japan, with the colorway referencing the Zoom Streak Spectrum Plus from 2002.
Aside from the sneakers, this collection includes a matching Windrunner jacket and a long-sleeve t-shirt.
“The Ekiden Pack supports runners from daily training to race day by letting you select the right shoes to match your needs, whether it’s the Rival Fly for easy runs, the Zoom Fly for faster distance runs, or the Vaporfly or Alphafly for speed training and the race,” Toyo University ekiden runner, Kosuke Ishida, said. “Ekiden is a race where the items you wear also attract attention, so running in distinctive shoes motivates you to push your limits. This year’s flame design really gets me fired up for the race.”
The latest Nike “Ekiden” collection releases on Nov. 22 in Japan at Nike.com, followed by a global launch on Dec. 22.
