Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce news may have come as a shock to those of us who knew them as one of Hollywood’s most PDA-friendly couples. However, as more details emerged from both camps in the months since their separation was announced, it became clear that not all was as rosy as it appeared on red carpets or Instagram.
The couple, who married in 2006 after a year of dating, had apparently begun living apart last summer, just as Urban embarked on his High and Alive World Tour. Kidman was also booked and busy, filming Practical Magic 2 alongside Sandra Bullock. Several sources have claimed to People that Kidman felt Urban hadn’t “been as supportive as she hoped” as her career has kicked into overdrive in recent years.
Still, Kidman and Urban themselves have remained pretty quiet about their split, and it seems there is a good reason for that. Keep reading for a complete timeline of Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban’s divorce drama, with the most recent events up top.
March 21, 2026: A source for Page Six denies recent romance rumors surrounding Nicole Kidman and her Scarpetta costar Simon Baker. “This is absolutely false,” a “source close to the pair” said. They’ve known each other for years and are good friends. That is it.”
March 20, 2026: The Sun reports that Kidman and Baker “stayed close” at an after-party earlier in the month. “Nicole and Simon’s closeness is definitely the talk of the town right now,” a source said. “They’re incredible together on screen and when you see them together in real life, that chemistry clearly wasn’t faked.”
March 17, 2026: Kidman tells The Daily Telegraph that she “begged” Baker to join her latest film. “We have known each other for a huge portion of our lives, so I’ve always wanted to do something substantial with Simon,” she said, per Hello! “And so, it was me going, would you please, please, do this with me? And he was at a time in his life when he could, when he could make decisions to be away from home and do things that took his fancy, and so it was kind of kismet.”
This marks the second time Kidman and Baker have played husband and wife, having portrayed a married couple in the Apple TV+ series Roar in 2022. Kidman is also longtime friends with Baker’s ex-wife, Rebecca Rigg.
Kidman also said she didn’t find it “weird” to kiss Baker during filming. “We’ve kissed on the cheek before. We’ve hugged a lot. We’ve lived in the same house,” she said. “And you know, the woman I grew up with, he was married to for a substantial part of his life…29 years, so we are just the same person.”
March 11, 2026: In a new interview with Variety, Kidman declared that 2025 was not the year of Nicole Kidman. “I was quiet. I had other things going on. I was in my shell,” she said. “Now I’m in a place of saying, ‘2026. Here we go.’ I have Practical Magic with [Sandra Bullock]. I’ll be in full witch mode.”
When asked if she’s “doing all right” during her separation from Urban, she replied, “I am, because I’m always going to be moving toward what’s good. What I’m grateful for is my family and keeping them as is and moving forward. That’s that.”
This marks the first time Kidman has directly discussed about her split from Urban, which she says is a decision born “out of respect.” She continued, “I’m staying in a place of, ‘We are a family,’ and that’s what we’ll continue to be. My beautiful girls, my darlings, who are suddenly women.”
