For Tobe Nwigwe, it was all mint everything at the Moncler Studio Ascenti event in New York City last week.
There, the independent rapper-singer flexed his signature style. He debuted a reimagined, pastel green-coated Moncler Trailgrip sneaker that he designed with the luxury fashion brand.
The Trailgrip MoMint—named after the 2022 album moMINTs that earned Nwigwe a Grammy nomination—boasts vibram MEGAGRIP technology on the outsole and toe box, while the upper is constructed out of smooth nubuck leather and textured suede. “Chukwu,” a nod to the Alief, Texas, native’s full name (Tobechukwu Dubem Nwigwe), is embroidered near the forefoot.
Moncler’s creative collaboration with Nwigwe at the event didn’t end there. The multi-hyphenate artist also performed an unreleased song celebrating his new shoe. On the soulful track, he mused about how his humble beginnings in Texas ultimately turned into a life of fame and fortune thanks, in large part, to the support of his parents.
Beyond showcasing Nwigwe’s unique expression, the third iteration of Moncler’s Studio Ascenti introduced the world to its 2025 Fall/Winter footwear collection through a 360-degree immersive experience. Attendees explored new styles and fresh takes on the Altive, Trailgrip LP, and Trailgrip Apex2 silhouettes against the backdrop of panoramic, skyscraping views of the city that never sleeps.
Since relaunching its footwear line in 2022, Moncler has focused on engineering sneakers that balance style and utilitarian design, assembling an Avengers-like roster of celebrity partners to do so. Collabs with Emmy and Grammy winner Donald Glover, designer Rick Owens, British Vogue editor-in-chief Edward Enniful, and singer Willow Smith were on full display at Studio Ascenti.
