Welcome to the City of Genius, where creativity is not only championed, it’s protected.

Ahead of its Shanghai Fashion Week unveiling on Oct. 19, Moncler has announced a fresh roster of Moncler Genius co-creators, each of whom will contribute to the underlying mission of this new chapter in ways unique to them. Among those enlisted for the larger experience are FRGMT by Hiroshi Fujiwara, Gilga Farm by Donald Glover, Mercedes-Benz by Nigo, ASAP Rocky, Willow Smith, and more.

The City of Genius will also house “special showcases of creativity” from Rick Owens and Jil Sander. Global brand ambassador Leah Dou, meanwhile, stars in a short film directed by Wing Shya, with Xu Bing providing calligraphic elements.

Paramount to the City of Genius, fittingly, is the idea that we are all born with the inherent potential to achieve a truly creativity-centered life. Some might go so far as to say that we are all born artists, in one way or another, and it’s this whole damn process of living that actually beats this out of us until we are but one face in a sea of millions, bound by anonymity and insignificance. The life of an artist avoids this, sidestepping the tomfoolery in favor of protecting your inner child, or as Moncler puts it, our “internal genius.”

The City of Genius event in Shanghai, first teased back in June, is set for Oct. 19. Per press notes, expect to be more thoroughly introduced to a “metropolis of immersive experiences” designed to stand collectively as “a global epicenter of creativity.”
