Think about it. Stansbury and other Democrats were trying to make a public statement in protest of the administration, specifically calling out attacks on women’s rights. Then, as if to demonstrate the very weirdness she’s talking about, a Republican man grabs her statement out of her hands and throws it away. For all Trump’s talk about free speech, in just the first few months of his second term, he barred the Associated Press from the White House briefing room because they refused to call the Gulf of Mexico by the name “Gulf of America.” On March 4, the same day as his address to Congress, he posted a call to end federal funding for universities that allow “illegal” protests, and even demanded protesters be arrested, sent to prison, or deported—without clarifying what he considered an “illegal” protest, per Reuters.
