According to The Sun, Meghan Markle has returned to her old profession to join the cast of Close Personal Friends, a comedy starring Lily Collins, Brie Larson, Jack Quaid, and Henry Goulding. We’ll still have to wait a few months to find out if Markle appears in the credits with her title, Duchess of Sussex.
The daughter-in-law of King Charles has “a small role” and “will play herself” in the film, which according to The Sun will be set in Santa Barbara, where Markle lives with Prince Harry and their two children, Archie and Lilibeth Diana. The film apparently tells the story of a couple who befriends a few celebrities in the California town.
“Meghan was on set today,” a source from the film later confirmed to People. “She looked most relaxed and happy. She introduced herself to everyone and was very sweet and unassuming.”
The role will be the duchess’s first since her wedding to Prince Harry in May 2018. At that point Meghan Markle was best known for her character Rachel Zane in Suits, a series she left after its penultimate season in 2017.
