Lisa made her Met Gala debut on Monday night, adding to a banner year that has already given fans the Blackpink member’s debut solo album with this February’s Alter Ego and her inaugural acting performance with the recently wrapped third season of The White Lotus.

Below, we take a closer look at Lisa’s fittingly Louis Vuitton-focused Met Gala look, which has led to some heightened social media attention after some were quick to claim that a portrait of civil rights activist Rosa Parks had been incorporated into the design.

What did Lisa wear to the 2025 Met Gala?

Lisa, a Louis Vuitton House Ambassador since last July, had the French luxury house’s signature LV logo well-represented in her 2025 Met Gala look. As detailed in this piece from British Vogue, the 28-year-old’s look consisted of a tailored jacket, bodysuit, and hosiery. Per the report, artist Henry Taylor was enlisted to embroider portraits into the bodice of the look. Taylor recently worked with Pharrell, who currently serves as men’s creative director at LV, on a Vogue cover. The two also worked on Pharrell’s first-ever LV show in 2023, with the 2025 Met Gala co-chair praising Taylor as a “genius.”

What were the reactions to Lisa’s 2025 Met Gala look?

As touched on above, some on social media were quick to claim that a portrait of Rosa Parks was featured on Lisa’s underwear. To be clear, the design itself is not limited to any particular part of the larger look, as portraits—exact details of which did not appear to have been publicly confirmed in any official capacity—are also incorporated elsewhere.

What’s the truth about Lisa’s 2025 Met Gala look?

As mentioned above, Henry Taylor’s portraits have been incorporated into Louis Vuitton pieces in the past. Furthermore, despite what’s been suggested in viral tweets, the Lisa look featured portraits incorporated into the entire ensemble, not just a single area.

A New York Times report, available here, includes a statement attributed to an LV rep. In it, the spokesperson notes that the lace in Lisa’s 2025 Met Gala look “replicates elements of an artwork by the American artist Henry Taylor depicting portraits of figures who have been a part of the artist’s life.”

Complex has reached out to Louis Vuitton reps for further comment. This story may be updated.
