LeBron James will unfortunately not be hitting the 2025 Met Gala carpet on Monday evening.
Alongside co-chairs Pharrell Williams, ASAP Rocky, Lewis Hamilton, Colman Domingo and Anna Wintour, James was to serve as an honorary chair of entertainment’s most fashionable night. But hours ahead of the event, on Monday afternoon, James posted a tweet explaining why he would not be attending this year’s Met Gala.
“Unfortunately because of my knee injury I sustained at the end of the season I won’t be able to attend the Met Gala in NY tonight as so many people have been asking and congratulating me on! Hate to miss an historical event!” he wrote.
Thankfully, the James family will be proudly represented by the athlete’s wife of twelve years, Savannah James. “My beautiful powerful Queen will be there holding the castle down as she always has done! 🙏🏾🫡🤎✨✨✨” James concluded.
According to ESPN, James sustained an MCL sprain during Game 5 of the Lakers’ game against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Despite James’ absence, this yeat’s Met Gala is expected to be star-studded. Check out just some of the stars expected to attend here.
