Merch for Kamala Harris and her newly-announced running mate Tim Walz have been revealed, and it’s already drawing comparisons to a pop singer’s own merch offerings.

Harris’ presidential campaign hasn’t shied away from leaning into the meme-o-sphere, with their social media accounts channeling UK pop star Charli XCX’s neon green Brat album aesthetics and making references to the vice president’s own meme-able moments.

It seems likely that one of Harris’ Gen Z-aged campaign staffers has some pretty clever ideas now that the Minnesota governor is on the ticket and saw an opportunity to reference rising Midwestern queer pop star Chappell Roan.

If you aren’t familiar, Roan, a 27-year-old Missouri native, has been making major waves in the music scene this year with hits like “Hot To Go,” “Pink Pony Club,” and “Good Luck, Babe!” off of her debut album The Rise and Fall of a Midwestern Princess. Last weekend, the singer performed at the main stage at Lollapalooza and reportedly drew the largest daytime crowd in the Chicago music festival’s history, apparently rivaling some of the actual headliner’s attendance numbers.

Roan offers a camo trucker hat on her official merch store with the Midwestern Princess branding embroidered on the front.

According to a fan on X, several Democrat-voting Roan fans expressed that they want to see Walz wear the Midwestern Princess hat on the campaign trail.

Now it seems that the Harris-Walz campaign has released their own take on the camouflage cap on their store on Tuesday with the caption, “You asked, we answered. The most iconic political hat in America.”

The hat somehow caught the “Femininomenon” singer’s attention on Tuesday night, who tweeted, “is this real?”

Roan also retweeted another user who wrote, “How gay do u have to be to see hunting colors and think it’s a Chappell roan thing.”

Harris’ campaign confirmed to Teen Vogue that 3,000 hats were made and sold out in 30 minutes totaling nearly a million dollars. It’s also worth mentioning that the magazine notes that liberals are using the camo hat as the antithesis of former president Donald Trump’s emblematic “MAGA” hat and the values behind it.

Harris-Walz camo hats, made in America and by unions, can be pre-ordered on their official website. As of publication, new batches of the caps won’t be shipped until October.
