Kai Cenat may not have gone to the 2025 Met Gala’s main event on Monday, but that doesn’t mean his presence wasn’t very much felt. Cenat was invited to an afterparty by Pharrell, a co-chair for this year’s fundraising gala, resulting in a star-stacked stream during which the Twitch star very much appeared to make at least one new friend.
“How the fuck did I get in here?” Kai asked chat at one point during the stream. Later, he repeatedly expressed shock about getting the chance to meet Future, notably with some assistance from Jaden Smith, by playfully boasting “Future knows me, n***a.” That particular run-in was especially lucrative, as Future and a rep expressed interest in arranging a Pluto-focused stream soon, perhaps in Miami.
Additional appearances during Kai’s 2025 Met Gala afterparty stream included Caleb McLaughlin, Keke Palmer, Daniel Kaluuya, Babyface, Shenseea, Pusha T, Ciara, PinkPantheress, Halle Bailey, Simone Biles, Kim Kardashian, and La La Anthony. Other stars are also visible as Kai is seen walking through the packed party space, resulting in incidental stream appearances from Taylor Kitsch and Guram Gvasalia, among others.
Along the way, Kai also wound up in conversations with the Mattel team and Jacob Arabo, founder of Jacob & Co. Elsewhere, he was introduced to Pharrell’s son, Rocket.
As for Kai’s absence at the gala itself, he previously told fans that he had a chance to go via a brand invitation. Though he did not disclose who, exactly, invited him, Kai explained that he ultimately came to the decision not to accept the invitation because “the brand that wanted to host me, I didn’t wanna do that brand.”
The carpet, expectedly, was once again a stacked one for the 2025 Met Gala. For a closer look at who made the biggest fashion impressions this year, see our coverage of key looks from Teyana Taylor and more here.
