Justin Baldoni’s mother is speaking out amid her son’s ongoing legal battle with Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds.
In honor of the It Ends With Us star and director’s 41st birthday on January 24, Sharon Baldoni posted three photos from his wedding to Emily Baldoni in 2013. In the caption, Sharon reflected on a different project of Justin’s, describing the “joy and love” that “permeated the set” after filming the series finale of Jane The Virgin.
“Happy Birthday Justin ~ remembering a wonderful moment after the final ending of ‘Jane The Virgin’—a moment where joy and love permeated the set, where friendships and family were born and kindness and integrity permeated the hearts of all the actors and crew, where sadness only entered because it was the final scene of a wonderful journey~ and the beginning of the rest of our lives,” she wrote. “A happy loving and generous memory with hearts exploding with possibilities. Life has its moments and also its surprises—as you keep your integrity through it all Justice and truth will shine today and into eternity. I love you more than you will ever know! Happy Birthday my beautiful boy! May God continue to bless you in truth.”

On January 24, Justin Baldoni’s wife also shared her first Instagram post amid the controversy, writing, “Happy birthday my love. Celebrating the man, husband, and father that you are. I’d choose you again and again.”
These posts comes nearly a month after Blake Lively filed her initial sexual harassment complaint against Justin Baldoni, also accusing the director of embarking on a smear campaign to “destroy” her reputation. In response, Baldoni is suing Lively and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, for defamation and extortion. Baldoni has also filed a lawsuit against the New York Times over their report on Lively’s complaint.
After Lively’s accusations went public in late December, multiple It Ends With Us cast members threw their support behind Lively, as did It Ends With Us author Colleen Hoover and Lively’s former Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants costars Amber Tamblyn, America Ferrera, and Alexis Bledel.
“As Blake’s friends and sisters for over 20 years, we stand with her in solidarity as she fights back against the reported campaign waged to destroy her reputation,” the Sisterhood stars wrote in a joint Instagram statement. “Throughout the filming of It Ends With Us, we saw her summon the courage to ask for a safe workplace for herself and colleagues on set, and we are appalled to read the evidence of a premeditated and vindictive effort that ensued to discredit her voice. Most upsetting is the unabashed exploitation of domestic violence survivors’ stories to silence a woman who asked for safety. The hypocrisy is astounding.”
